4BBB Stableford (15 holes) - Saturday, 27 February
1st - Graham Slater & Bill Udall - 38pts
2nd - Tony Peel & Ken Thorman - 38pts
Course update from Sunday, 28 February
The course has dried out remarkably well and was in great condition over the weekend.
All fairways are now back in play removing the need for members to place to the side. "Preferred lies through the green" will continue until further notice.
Whilst we would still prefer members to carry or use a pull/push trolley if at all possible, I am pleased to inform members that the electric trolley ban is LIFTED with immediate effect. Sorry no ride on buggies yet however we will review this situation on a weekly basis and hope to be able to allow their use shortly. If using a trolley please stick to the paths wherever possible and keep the trolleys outside the ropes at all times.
Note - It is often easier and causes less damage travelling with trolleys up the middle of the fairways rather than along the semi rough which currently remains the wetter areas.
For those that have played this last week you should have seen we have started to prepare the bunkers to get them back in play asap. Our aim is to complete the preparation this coming week so that they are back in play for next weekend Saturday 5th March. Therefore can I please ask members to get back in the habit of raking bunkers again when retrieving their ball, even though they are not in play yet. This is particularly important on those bunkers that have already had preparation work done on them. I noticed over the weekend that on some already prepared bunkers that members had just walked into them to retrieve their ball and then not bothered to rake the bunker afterwards leaving their footprints behind. Your co-operation on this matter is appreciated and will help us get them back in play quicker.
With regards to winter tee mats where present. Will all members please note that they MUST play their tee shots from off the mats NOT off the grass behind the mats even though the ball may be within two club lengths of the blocks! The mats are there for a purpose - to protect the tees from damage and divots. Your co-operation on this is appreciated.
I am pleased to report the drainage problem in front of the 12th Tee has been identified, rectified and a new larger drain installed. There is still some final work required to make this area and the area to the side of the 5th green "good" but we hope to complete this work shortly.
With regard to the 10th fairway, most of the water has now dissipated however we have not yet fully identified and fixed the underlying problem. So please bear with us while we continue work in this area.
Finally, please remember to repair pitch marks on the greens - both your own and at least one other and replace divots on the fairways now they are back in play.
Thanks to all for their on-going co-operation and understanding. The course really is in great condition for this time of year and with the continued improved weather conditions we should all look forward to playing under normal conditions soon.
We should have a course in great condition to look forward to for the coming season.
