Good news from HGGC
The golfing year from April - end of March 2016 saw HGGC attract 69 new members. On the 31st March we had 510 members at the Club, which was 9 new members ahead of the same time last year. We welcome all our new members to the Club - we hope you will enjoy Hazel Grove. Thank you to everyone who has introduced people. Our members are the best advert for the Club.
We have had three people on our Academy scheme who have taken up full membership on renewal. We have had a further three people join this category over the last 3 months.
There has been a similar number of resignations as last year, but the reasons given for leaving the Club this time, are ill-health, financial reasons and moving jobs/houses. Unfortunately, a number of our elder members have decided it is time to give up golf - we wish them well.
Open Day
We held our Open at the end of March to attract golfers who were already members of Clubs. We had a number of people attend and recruited on the day 1 Gold, 1 Silver, 4 Intermediates and 2 Juniors, with the potential of 2 further Gold members. Thank you to everyone who helped on the day - it is the members' that make it the success. Our next Open Day will be in August/September.
Referral Scheme
Last year we introduced a prize for the member who introduced the most new members to the Club. This was won by Jack Kendal at the AGM with 4 members. We are running this scheme again this year with £200 being awarded to the member who encourages most new members to join. All you have to do is make sure you are named on their application form. So please spread the word and encourage your family, friends and work colleagues to come and play golf at HGGC.
Reciprocal Clubs
HGGC now has arrangements with the Vale of Llangollen, Dean Wood and Vicars Cross Golf Clubs to play their courses at preferential rates. The details for each Club and the prices are on our website under the Members Section.
Get into Golf Pathway
HGGC is going for Golfmark, an award given by England Golf to Clubs who meet certain criteria in their management systems, coaching and development, recruitment and retention and safe-guarding children. Once we get the award, HGGC will be listed on the England Golf website as accredited and EG will work with us at County level to promote HGGC and it coaching facilities. As part of the Award, our Pro has developed a "Get into Golf Pathway" for people new to golf - this can be found on the website and in the area near the Pro Shop. The Pathway gives clear guidelines for beginners to see the next stages in their development. If you know some-one who would like to have a go at golf, please contact our Pro for dates and times of the next courses.
Pilot Scheme for Women In Golf
HGGC has also been selected as only one of three Clubs in Cheshire County for a "Women in Golf Initiative". The aim is to encourage more women to play golf and become members of the Club. It is a testament to our Pro's coaching skills and dedication that HGGC has been chosen for this trial.
Taster Month
The Golf Taster Month is back for the summer months. This allows a potential member to play the course and join in the fabric of the Club for one month for the cost of £75.00. They are offered a lesson with the Pro and receive a voucher for the bar. Hopefully after the month they will have enjoyed the experience and will become a full member.
If anyone knows of someone who is unsure whether to join, please let them know about this offer. Gender Free Tees
HGGC has introduced gender free tees for golfers playing friendly games. Golfers can choose which tees to play from allowing mixed groups to tee off from the same place.

I am organising a Ladies Chip & Sip evening at HGGC on Friday 17th June 2016
9 holes, non of them longer than 50 yards and no hazards to go over! Teams of 4 with the best score on each hole out of the 4 golfers goes down on the card, GREAT FUN WITH NO PRESSURE.
I will be out on the course to help you with some tips and advice. This event is open to non-members and non-golfers. If you have a friend who may be interested in giving it a go please bring them along.
After the game you can enjoy a glass of wine or soft drink whilst I to a presentation for the winning teams.

Charity golf day
This event will be held in support of the Cooper Street Kids here at Hazel Grove Golf Club on Thursday, 7 July
Would anyone be interested in entering a team into our Charity Golf Day which will be held at Hazel Grove Golf Club on Thursday, 7 July. This will be in support of The Cooper Street Kids, Swellendam, South Africa (these are 35 children which Bill & Jackie Dootson have been supporting over the last 6 years).
The price to enter is £180 per team of 4, and will include golf and a 3 course meal (you can enter as many teams as you like). The team can be any combination ie. 4 ladies, 4 men, 3 ladies + 1 man, 3 men + 1 lady and so on, and is a shotgun start at 1.00pm, followed by the meal, prize presentation and a raffle/auction.
