BUPA Great Manchester Run
Hazel Grove Golf Club running for Breakthrough Captain and Junior Captain (James Glazier) took part in the Great Manchester Run on Sunday 18th May raising funds in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer (one of the Captains' Charities of the Year).
Both successfully completed the race on what was a very hot day, particularly under the pink wigs! It was a truly great experience with so many people running for various worthy and inspiring causes.
Junior completed the race in 58 mins and 51 secs, the Captain in a more leisurely 65 mins and 19 secs (Not bad for an old timer!) So far we have raised over £650, with further money to come in. We will keep you posted.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you all so much for your encouragement and generosity.
And a special thanks to James for supporting me in this challenge. Fantastic
Mick Jones
HGGC Captain 2013-14
Control your advice… and clear your mind
'Shift your weight'; 'pull down on the bell rope'; 'bunt your hips towards the target'; 'drive your left knee'. You'll recognise these as pearls of wisdom all offered to help you make a better start to your downswing. Okay, so which one is it?
Golf is full of such contradictory advice; and though it is almost always well-intentioned, it just ends up creating confusion. And in a game where clarity of thought is crucial, a confused state of mind is calamitous.
Happily, there is a simple way out of this chaotic cul de sac, and that it is to make a conscious effort to limit yourself to a single source of information. So take advantage of our accessibility, subject expertise and years of experience and make us your one port of call. Your scores will improve… and your brain will thank you for it!
