Welcome to another exciting edition of our weekly newsletter. From competition results to golfing habits we do and don't recommend, this week's newsletter is a must read for all golfers! We have lots happening in the shop at the moment too, so be sure to pop your head in next time you're here and take a look around.

Hut – Saturday, 19 August

The Vice-Captain and his lady wife – Ruth - will be at the hut on Saturday, 19 August during the morning’s Shotgun competition, offering a selection of cold food and drinks. This is in support of their daughter’s fund raising for her gap year where she will be working for the ‘BMS World Mission’ and it’s Guinean Action Team in Africa.

All funds raised on the day will go some way towards helping Mhairi Cole with her training in the UK and time overseas from October.

In addition to the food and drink, there will be an opportunity to pledge support for a Duck Race that will take place on the following morning near to Bramall Hall.

Iain & Ruth are wholly thankful for any support offered on the day and welcome the opportunity to expand on their daughter’s volunteering efforts with you on the day.

Course Update

Despite the heavy rain overnight Sunday the greens team successfully completed the micro-tining of 17 greens and the putting green today. The exception being the 15th green which was too wet and will now be completed later in the week.

Mike commenced micro-tining some of the greens late Sunday afternoon into the evening in order a fast start to the exercise and continued this morning to complete the remaining greens.

A dozen volunteers turned up this morning at 8am to help the greens team with the clearing up of all the tines. The great turn out meant that all the tines had been cleared from the greens and that all greens had any remaining debris blown away by midday. With volunteers focused on clearing the greens of the tines it enabled some of the greens team to commence normal cutting activities earlier than anticipated which was an added bonus.

Well done to the greens team and a massive thanks from Mike Davie and myself to all the volunteers who helped today, your help certainly made a huge difference and enabled the task to be completed far quicker than expected following last night’s rain.

Top dressing of the greens is the next task however this is dependent on ground conditions not being too wet and on a relatively dry weather forecast. Mike is reviewing the situation however based on current forecasts it may be later in the week before we are able to top dress the greens. We will keep you posted.
