Captains' Corner What a conclusion to Captains Prize we witnessed on Saturday! We sent out the Top 30 in reverse order and it was not until the final putt was struck did the winner become known. Bernie Mcdonald won in style and showed perseverance pays off. Hats off to Duncan Cocker who finished ?agonisingly close in second. Fraser Macleod took a deserving gross prize, but would we expect anything less from last year's runner up? I was so pleased to make the presentation to a packed clubhouse, before enjoying the company of many for a memorable evening's entertainment.
Can I thank everyone who made the Captains Prize so special: from the green staff to the helpers at the hut, and not to forget ABC for a superlative meal and choice of entertainment.
I look forward to welcoming guests to the Gents invite on Saturday. With the continuing hot weather and course at its best, it's not hard for us to put on a good show. Have a great time on the course and share your memories over a quiet drink in the bar.

Macmillan Longest Day 72 Hole Golf Challenge - Mick Jones We did it, started 04:30am finished 20:50pm. Brilliant team of; Iain Cole, Simon Ashton, Peter Allen, Mick Jones and regular support from Tim Johnson for supply of much needed refreshments.
Many thanks to Bramhall Park GC, Romiley GC (who's hospitality was exceptional), Davenport GC and our home club Hazel Grove GC where we finished and received a great reception and some much-needed beers. Many, many thanks to all the supporters who sponsored our team. As a team, we have already raised over £2000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Fantastic.

Lyme Design Charity Golf Day On Friday 15th June we hosted our second annual Charity Golf Day at Hazel Grove Golf Club to raise money and awareness for the Handforth based charity; The Seashell Trust whom take care and support children and young adults with complex learning/communication disabilities. The day started out with 76 keen golfers, made up from customers, suppliers, local associated businesses, friend and family, all trying their best to get around the tricky Hazel Grove golf course. After being refueled at the halfway house BBQ everyone finished their game and all coming off the course with a smile. We then hosted a 100-person dinner where we entertained further guests for the Golf prize presentations, silent auction and a raffle. We are pleased to announce we raised just over £8000 the Seashell Trust which is double on last year’s amount.
Thank you to everyone who made it a great day and night.

HGGC PGA Charity Pro-Am - Friday, 13 July 2018 Hazel Grove Golf Club will be hosting their annual Charity PGA Pro-Am next year on Friday, 13 July 2018 (so plenty of time to save the date). The cost of entering a team of 3 is just £299 and your fourth team member will be a PGA Professional. Your PGA Professional will be with you for the best part of the day, sharing their golfing knowledge and experiences which will definitely benefit your team. HOW IT WORKS On arrival you will allocated a PGA Pro to your team (of 3 amateurs), you’ll spend some time getting to know your Pro, then off you go – just treat the game like a casual round of golf. There will be 2 competitions running at the same time. One for the team as a whole and one for the Pros who will be entering their own competition alongside the team comp, the Pro will be focussed on his/her own game as there is a substantial Pro’s Prize Fund at the end but it really is a remarkable experience. If you’ve ever thought of playing in a Pro-Am and haven’t got round to it yet, then you should strongly consider playing in this one. It’s a great day all round and also a good way for businesses to entertain customers/reward staff for just £100 per person (think of the cost of playing 9 or 18 holes with a Pro!). For £100 you will be playing in a fantastic comp, with 18 holes of golf, bacon sandwich/coffee, good camaraderie and a meal after the game – this is excellent value and one not to be missed, plus you’ll have the opportunity to meet lots of other people/professionals and win prizes. This is open to any golfer of a reasonable standard (Ladies and Gents). If you are not able to enter but know someone else who may be interested, please pass on the flyer/entry form. It’s not restricted to members and most companies will appreciate the opportunity. If you can’t get a team together but would like to play yourself, just give James your name and he will try and put a team together for you. Why not sponsor a Hole (or two) for just £50 per hole? BARGAIN! You provide your company banner – we will do the rest. It’s a great way to promote your company profile and brand awareness as this event will be widely advertised (if interested in this exceptional offer, see James) Sponsor the Balls Room for only one sponsor – the first to approach If you need any more information, speak to James (Pro), Tel: 0161 483 7272 | e: james-golfpro@hotmail.co.uk |

First one way, now the other The U.S. Open had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, and it’s safe to say that the course set-up played a huge part in this. With much of the debate centred around whether the USGA made conditions too tricky or not, we posed this very question to you over the past week on our website poll and here are the results: 75% of you believe the USGA got it wrong at Shinnecock Hills It really does make for interesting reading. Just a couple of months ago we asked you whether you’d prefer to see 20-under-par win a tournament or two-over-par, and the results were the complete reverse. On that occasion, 82% voted in favour of seeing the world’s best struggle to make a score, which is exactly what happened at the U.S. Open. Click here to let us know your thoughts. |
Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. This Callaway Warbird follows the trend by offering maximum distance with your longer clubs thanks to its aerodynamic dimples and high-energy core, giving you lots of power for little expenditure. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag but without the premium price tag, this Callaway Supersoft ball is designed to be long, straight and soft. It doesn’t spin as much as the Chrome Soft, but its low compression core helps create long, high flights that land softly. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Callaway's Chrome Soft is their premium option, and it's easy to see why, with a soft urethane cover for short-game spin and a graphene-infused core that boosts ball speed and provides more iron control. |
