Winter League Update From Mike Booth - The Stones Are Rolling On ‘Shot Dad’ was ringing around the Grove in this latest Winter League outing. Stone senior masterminded a fine victory over the much fancied PP & The Shark. They now head the group table with a 100% record from three games. Close on their tails are The People’s Champions - Rogers and Mobley after beating the Young Pretenders Tetlow and Greenall. If the Peeps Champs win their game in hand it could be boiling up to an intriguing final day decider between the current top two. An excellent final hole win for Prof and Plod over Captain and Pro and wins for Jackson and Lord over Hunt and The Pot Hunting Johnson leaves a fairly open division behind the top two. A full turn out in The Plate sees this division taking shape nicely. Barlow and Brown looking favourites and top of the group after maintaining their 100% record with hard fought victory over someone who won The Super League last year, but now have an unwanted record of four defeats from four. The Stewardson’s came out on top with a fine win in the heavyweight clash with Heyes and Walters. The result halted last week’s leaders in their tracks and makes for a very tight squeeze at the top. In the clash between Major and The Three Silver Foxes (Tracey Slater guesting for the AWOL Marshall). It was the regular foxes Leah and Rogerson taking the honours here with their first win. The final match had Levis and the slight less hirsute Thorley having too much for Captain Kirk and Garner. Only the one match played in The Slicers division where Stewardson and Taylor beat Quirk and stand in Penney. A result that sees the victors back in the mix in the division that anyone could still win Apart from maybe Tew and Glazier and the Twilighters who were fixtureless today. The bottom group also only featured a couple of games this week. The Whistler and The Vice keeping up their 100% record with another thumping defeat, this time to Tallents and Walters who finally seem to have found their form from last year as they now lead the group jointly with Bailey and Stevens, both of whom have now won three form three. Bailey and Stevens having beaten off the Dog and Ivor. That’s all for this week. It’s a free week next week to enable teams to catch up. A reminder that all matches to be concluded the morning of 7 April. A reminder also to those on the weekend away. All final monies are now overdue. Thanks to those who have now paid up. Can all others complete this week please.
