It's the 3 clubs and a putter competition tomorrow holes 1-15 stableford 5/6 handicap allowance. What clubs are you going to take out?
My recommendation would be a fairway wood (3 or 5 wood), mid iron (6 iron), a pitching wedge and a putter. Will the scores be any different from normal?
It's remembrance day this coming Sunday. Alongside Saturday's competition you will also be playing for the Poppy Day medal, we would appreciate a £1 donation towards the poppy appeal, In exchange you will receive a very nice ball marker.
The new Captain,
Paul Glazier drove in last Saturday. He struck a great tee shot considering all the members who turned up to watch him. 170 yards with a slight fade.
Junior Results from Sunday 2nd November 2015
1st - Ross Tetlow - 35 points
2nd - Callum Hughes - 34 points
3rd - Liam Mann - 30 points
Yellow Tees - Harvey Rigby - 23 points
I did the first custom fit on the new TaylorMade RSI 2 irons yesterday for a customer. The Combination of Standard length and 3 degrees upright did the trick to give the greatest distance gain and improved shot dispersion.

HGGC Greens Report - Protection of Golf Course Winter 2014-15
Alister Mackenzie overlooking the Verti Draining Operation:
Work started at 0615 on Tuesday 4th, using 3 machines, completion due on Wed 5th by 1600. Many apologies if your golf competitions were afected by this essential fairway and greens apron work. These machines are very specialised and expertly operated, and I am sure everyone will agree this operation is essential in our maintenance program.
HGGC Greens were also treated using an air compression machine. The machine puts down foam markers to show the area to be treated. Spikes are then pressed into the green to a depth of 6 inches, compressed air is forced down the spikes, under pressure. The effect is to physically lift the root zone and grass momentarily. The process relieves compaction and aerates the root zone.
The Greens staff and myself, need your help. PLEASE
1. The comp on Sat 8th Nov, is 3 clubs and a putter. Please use a carrying bag, and maybe in future weeks, continue to carry, again with half set of clubs. The damage done by electric trolleys can be seen by all as the bad weather sets in for winter. Please only use Electric Trolleys if you have a medical condition.
All trolleys and buggies must stay on the paths provided!
2. James, our Pro, will give you a great discount off new light-weight carrying bags, and again will give individuals a good winters rental deal on "pull trolleys" so book early!
3. Please observe all marked and roped off areas, particularly in front of greens and beside tees!
4. Flags on Greens, Do not attend Flags on Greens. Only option is flags in or out. This will save on wear and tear around holes. When the weather deteriorates, the white plastic rings around the tops of the hole cups maybe introduced. These act as a visual aid on long putts and also protect the holes from the flags blowing in the wind!
5. Do not attempt to take any trolleys between green side bunkers and greens.
6. 18 new Winter Tee mats will be positioned on grass tees, these will be moved on a weekly basis, depending on wear and tear around the Yellow Tee box. When the damage becomes significant then the Winter Tee mats will be moved to an area as to maintain the yardage of the hole. There will be NO WINTER CARD, play will be from the Summer Card all year!
7. Please continue to use the divot bags and the MacDivot pegs to repair your divots, every little helps!! Thank you all for your advice, please feel free to give me or any of my committee your constructive suggestions for the future of our course!
