Our fitting days here at Hazel Grove are always a popular event, and because of this I have managed to organise a fitting day with Callaway on Friday, 20 November from 12pm - 4pm.
This is a fantastic opportunity to try out the new Great Big Bertha driver as well as the newly released Apex irons.

We hope you have enjoyed your golf this summer - long may this weather continue.
The autumn program of events has begun with Winter League starting next week. This always makes me think of dark mornings! We will soon welcome in the new President and Captains. We wish them good luck and hope they will have an enjoyable year.
The Good News
We have good news! Since May we have had 31 new members join the Club. Welcome to the Club - we hope you will enjoy Hazel Grove. Thank you to everyone who has introduced people to the Club. We did launch a membership incentive scheme last November - a prize of £250 for the member who introduced the most new golfers to the Club. The winner will be announced at the Annual General Meeting.
The Junior Section has continued to grow over the past year with seven new members joining in the summer months. Our Section is recognised as being one of the best in the area with lessons provided by the Pro on a Saturday and a weekly competition on a Sunday. Thanks to the Junior organisers for all their hard-work and achievements. It is great to see the Juniors on the course.
Open Morning
On Sunday, 28 September we held an Open Morning to attract golfers to the Club. Debbie Wilson, Chris Jones and James put a lot of effort into organising this. We placed adverts in Inside Magazine in Hazel Grove and Marple, a banner on the A6 and boards on the main routes to advertised the Day. As a result of the publicity we generated 40 enquiries.
James offered instruction on the driving range and Ben was gave putting tips. We also had volunteers taking people out on the course to play 6 holes. As a result of the day we have had 2 Gold members & 2 Juniors join. One lady has signed up for golf lessons and we have three people who have indicated they will join in November.
Thank you to everyone who turned out to help out on the day or baked a cake. We cannot hold these events without your support.
Buddy System
We introduced a buddy system at the beginning of the year which has proved to be very successful with the new members. Mr Vice-Captain, Steve Jones and Lady Vice-Captain, Pam McGahan have been in charge of organising the buddies. As they are about to take Office, I can announce that Steve Volp has agreed to be buddy organiser for the gents - Steve has been an enormous help this year and had 5 people under his wing at one point. Chris Jones, LVC will become the organiser for the ladies - Chris has spent the last year helping the Membership Team, so is well qualified for this role.
If anyone would like to offer their services as a buddy, please see either Steve or Chris.
Reciprocal Clubs
HGGC now has arrangements with the Vale of Llangollen, Dean Wood and Vicars Cross Golf Clubs to play their courses at preferential rates. The details for each Club and the prices are on our website under the Members Section.
Taster Month
One of the new initiatives we have been trialling over the last couple of months is a Golf Taster Month for £75. This allows a potential member to play the course and join in the fabric of the Club for one month. They are offered a lesson with the Pro and receive a voucher for the bar. Hopefully after the month they will have enjoyed the experience and will become a full member.
If anyone knows of someone who is unsure whether to join, please let them know about this offer
Ladies' Teams
The Ladies' Team have had some successes this year! The Business Ladies' Team won the East Cheshire Inter-Shield Competition, winning against Stockport, Wilmslow, Mellor and Heyrose to get a place in the Finals. The Team played against Didsbury in the Final and won all the matches. The Scratch Team have also won their Division in the Cheshire Ladies Golf Association Scratch League and as a result get promoted into the next Division. They played against Hale, Lymm and Delamere to record this fantastic result.
Well done to everyone that played on the teams - what a great year.
