Connect the TriangleOne of the biggest causes of inconsistency on the greens for many players' is lack of control over both direction and distance.
Imagine if your putter was actually an extension of your arms, your hands hold the putter then follow your wrists, forearms and the upper arms too and finally you have your shoulders. Now try and imagine all these body parts coming together and working all at the same time in unison.
Start by trying to imagine that you have formed a triangle shape from your perspective at address and the acute angle of the triangle points towards the ball. Using your shoulder muscles, biceps, back and chest muscles to control the movement back and forwards and keeping the head as still and as stable as possible.
Remember to always use the big muscles above the elbows to putt with and not the small ones below.
Good Luck,
Lee
The Verti-drain programme of the greens has now been completed, unfortunately even though excessive rain has fallen recently the ground conditions are still too hard for the tees, aprons and fairways to be undertaken.
These areas will be completed at a later date when ground conditions allow. An update will be posted to inform members when this will be completed. The yardage discs on the tees and the distance markers on the fairways have been taken in for refurbishment these will be replaced prior to the new golfing season.
The mild weather is allowing growth to continue and we are still trying to cut the course for definition. We are now down to our winter staffing levels of 3 greenkeepers and Andrew is performing his usual task of keeping areas free from leaves along with other duties. As we are still undertaking a cutting programme the winter programme tasks are being delayed but these will commence shortly.
We apologise for any inconvenience that the recent and forthcoming erection of ropes and fences along will the installation of winter tee mats may cause and hope you enjoy your winter golf.
Don't forget we have our Callaway fitting day next Friday, 20 November here at Hazel Grove.
